Beer, Wine and Cider

Our guests at River Cottage have been singing the praises of our specially selected beer, cider and wines available at our events and courses. So due to popular demand and enjoyment we have decided to extend this list beyond our HQ and welcome you to join our Beer, Wine and Cider Club. The selection listed has been sourced from local South West producers and we couldn’t resist including our very own award winning Stinger beer!

The Club is still fairly new and we will be adding more beer wines and ciders from our bar at Park Farm and from the range at our Axminster produce store and canteen, including some of our own selections for those who subscribe to regular deliveries, so keep watching!

There are now two ways to order your favourite drinks, either as a one of from the list below or by subscribing to regular deliveries which has the added bonus of a 10% discount!

We have tried to keep our pricing in line with the suppliers pricing and you can choose as many products as you like and you will be charged a flat £5 post and packing charge.

It’s always difficult to know what exactly is the ideal gift for father’s day and amongst the suggestions we have made we all agree that generally a box full of the finest alcohol delivered to the door has got to be way up there!


We’ve put together a small selection from our Beer, Wine and Cider club to give Dad a taste of our fantastic range.


 

The box complete with the River Cottage logo is ready to present and contains :-


 

Sherborne Brut
Sparkling wine is a new addition to the Sherborne Castle range and we think they've done exceptionally well to produce a Dorset bubbly fit to rival champagne.

Pennard Plum Fruit Wine
A local variety of cherry plums gives this wine a rich and spicy balance. A great party wine!

Kingston Black Apple Aperitif
The outstanding vintage qualities of the rare Kingston Black apple, have for generations, made it in a legend in the orchards of the West Country. We believe that the subtle flavours of this unique blend of apples, spirit and tradition makes it a superb aperitif. Kingston Black can also be served ice cold as a dessert wine.

2 bottles of Burrow Hill Sparkling Cider (50cl)
A blend of at least 11 varieties of vintage apples "the cider makers craft at it's best":

Cotleigh Tawny Owl
A West Country Classic, well balanced light copper coloured bitter using local malt and English whole hops

Cotleigh Golden Seahawk
A bright Golden Coloured best bitter. Smooth and malty with a background of honey flavour offering refreshing and citrus finish

2 bottles of our very own Stinger Beer
Hugh describes Stinger as “slightly spicy with a light bitterness and a subtle tingle that comes from the nettles. Equally good with summer barbecues and winter roasts, or while sitting on a hay bale, watching the sun go down....”

The normal retail of this box would be £60.15 plus p&p but for Fathers day we are giving 10% discount so you can get Dad an introduction to our Beer, Wine and Cider Club for only £54.00 plus p&p. Who knows, he might decide to subscribe regularly making it the best present he’s ever had?

Hugh had great pleasure in developing this beer with Badger Ales personally, we've had great fun testing it ever since!

Stinger is an organic handcrafted ale which uses organic nettles handpicked in Dorset.

15 Year Cider 10 Year CiderA treasure from Somerset is cider brandy, revived in 1987 at Kingsbury Episcopi, and now with an international reputation of high quality.

The orchards at Burrow Hill are traditionally managed, with grazing sheep, and produce Harry Masters Jersey, Stoke Red, Kingston Black and Brown Snout apples which go into the famous cider brandy range.

Somerset Cider Brandy is an apple brandy that is compared favourably to French Calvados.

The tradition of wine making on the Sherborne Castle Estate started in the middle ages when Bishop Roger planted the first vines.
