Ever wondered what might be on Hugh's own Christmas table? Well, this December, you can find out. Join Hugh for a festive evening where he will share his enthusiasm for the truly celebratory cooking of a yuletide feast.
Using the very best local produce, Hugh will show you how to cook the dishes he loves to eat at Christmas. With his commitment to seasonality, Hugh likes to leave his decision about the precise menu to the last minute, but you can be sure there will be no Christmas cliches. Turkey was banished from Hugh's festive table some time ago, along with smoked salmon and prawn cocktails, but local fish may well feature on the menu, along with goose or duck or perhaps a special cut from one of Hugh's own Devon Ruby cattle. There will be lots of ideas for cooking seasonal veg - parsnips, salsify and Brussels sprouts will all be thriving in the River Cottage garden. And of course, it wouldn't be Christmas without some rich and decadent desserts: Pears in spiced rosehip syrup perhaps, or a gooey chocolate chestnut truffle cake.
The evening will kick off at 6pm with Dorset bubbly and handmade canapes. Hugh will then begin demonstrating his Christmas recipes. He will then hand over to the River Cottage team, who will serve you a four-course meal featuring all the dishes Hugh has prepared, and many more besides.
The meal is rounded off with coffee and petit fours just before 11pm
