Local Produce Store
We have set up this store as a real alternative to the supermarket. We stock a wide selection of everyday food items such as milk, cheese, eggs, meat, and poultry, as well as a range of books and smallholder supplies.
Virtually all of our produce is sourced locally from the extremely impressive producers we have here in the South West, accompanied by a small number of high-quality products from other counties in the UK. Come and support these producers, and see for yourself what we’ve put together!
Canteen
The River Cottage Canteen serves meals throughout the day, made from the best local, seasonal produce.
The Canteen is also open three evenings a week, and for Sunday lunch; see below for opening hours, or click here to see a range of sample menus.

This month's Taster evening at the River Cottage Canteen
Butchery Demonstration with Ray Smith, River Cottage Butchery Expert
7.00pm - 10.00pm on Wednesday 28th May 2008
Join Ray Smith for a butchery demonstration and Q&A, followed by a barbeque in the River Cottage Canteen Garden cooked by the kitchen team.

“I just wanted to say, my family and I had a meal at Axminster on Friday night and it was truly excellent. We had the Cornish sardines, which were simple and perfect, with a lemon wedge and hunk of bread ... Main course was chicken breast, air-dried ham, kale and Jerusalem artichoke puree. Absolutely delicious; the chicken melted like butter in the mouth. Dad had pollock with capers and anchovies and said it was the best pollock he had had. The service was also really good.”
