Spend a full day at River Cottage, drawing inspiration from seasonal blooms and our beautiful garden as you learn to paint flowers and foliage in a fresh botanical style. You’ll begin with the fundamentals of watercolour and master the key steps to bring any plant or flower to life. Enjoy the opportunity to paint on both large and small scales, creating stunning arrangements and patterns.

At River Cottage, food is always a highlight. Indulge in a delicious two-course lunch featuring local, seasonal fare as you immerse yourself in this creative experience.

Your instructor for the day is Harriet de Winton, the talented founder of de Winton Paper Co., known for her exquisite watercolour wedding stationery and original artworks. Harriet leads a vibrant online teaching community, sharing her expertise through her popular YouTube channel and Patreon. She has authored three bestselling watercolour books, with over 100,000 copies sold globally, and is currently working on her fourth.

Make yourself at home

You’ll begin your River Cottage experience with a 10-15 minute walk through the pathways down to the farm, giving you the chance to soak up the views of the valley.

Welcome

Start your morning with tea or coffee and tasty treats fresh from the River Cottage kitchen.

Morning Session

To get the day underway, Harriet will cover the fundamentals of watercolour and guide you through the key steps to painting any plant or flower. All the materials and equipment you need will be provided.

Lunch

Food is always the focus at River Cottage, and a two-course lunch of local, seasonal fare will be one of the highlights of your day.

Afternoon Session

After lunch you will paint on both a large and small scale, learning how to create different arrangements and patterns.

Departure

The day will then draw to an end and you’ll head back up the hill at 5pm, along with your beautiful work and numerous skills to practice at home.
