Overview

Join River Cottage Head Gardener Jonny Callis and draw inspiration from the produce and gardening methods used by our team at the smallholding. Enjoy a seasonal cocktail and a delicious savory snack to enhance your visit, and take a guided tour of our famous walled Kitchen Garden and productive Market Garden with Jonny and the team.

At River Cottage, we believe that growing your own vegetables can transform your life. In an age of intensive farming and reliance on harmful pesticides, it’s essential to depend on our own patches of safe soil. If you’re inspired to turn your patio, garden, or allotment into a productive vegetable plot, consider joining one of our River Cottage garden courses!

Under 5s can attend free of charge, while all other attendees will need a paid ticket.

Arrive at River Cottage

You’ll begin your River Cottage experience with a 10-15 minute walk through the pathways down to the farm, enabling you to really soak up the views of the valley.

Make yourself at home

Meet our Head Gardener Jonny Callis who will talk you through your visit over a welcome drink.

Tour

You'll head out for your tour of our famous walled Kitchen Garden, where you will enjoy a savoury snack. Next head to the Market Garden where you can also take a look at our outdoor kitchen – you might recognise it from the River Cottage Reunited series, as it's where Hugh and the team whipped up many of the dishes!

Q&A

Following your tour, you are free to mingle with your fellow guests and ask Jonny any burning questions you may have. The bar will be open in our barn if you wish to purchase additional drinks.

We are a licensed venue. We have a wide selection of the finest organic wines available to purchase.

Accommodation

If you would like to stay at the heart of River Cottage, we offer overnight accommodation at River Cottage HQ in our beautiful 17th century farmhouse. We have three stylishly refurbished bedrooms for B&B plus the 2-bedroom Gardener's Cottage. These get booked quickly so for more information go to rivercottage.net/stay to book. Alternatively, we have put together a list of our local accommodation which includes B&Bs, self-catering, hotels and camping.

Suitability

Under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult. We put these guidelines in place for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our guests.
