Guided by expert forager and folklorist Nick Phillips, you will uncover the secrets of wild fungi and gain the confidence to identify and gather them safely.
Your day begins with an introduction inspired by the much-loved River Cottage Mushroom Handbook, before heading out into the woods with two baskets in hand: one for edible treasures and one for curiosities. You will explore the rich biodiversity of our landscape, learning how to forage responsibly and connect more closely with the land.
The experience continues with a chef-led cooking demonstration and a seasonal lunch crafted from the day’s finds. This hands-on day celebrates the fascinating world of fungi in every sense, leaving you inspired, more knowledgeable, and ready to forage with confidence at home.
Is this course suitable for me? We recommend this course for participants aged 12 and up. Under-16s must be accompanied by a paying adult. Really good. Great mix of garden walk, demonstrations at the front, and us doing the cooking. Lots of tips during the day. Really good having Sean on hand to support and facilitate. I’m fairly neurodivergent and struggle to do two things at once (listen to instructions and do) but I found it easy to keep up. Excellent day.
