Join Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall for an unforgettable four-course feast

We’re delighted to invite you to one of the most exclusive dining experiences at River Cottage, an intimate evening personally curated by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall for just 40 guests. This four-course feast celebrates the very best of the season, created with the finest local ingredients from our farm, garden, and trusted growers.

You’ll dine in our beautiful 18th-century threshing barn, where Hugh will join you for an evening of food, conversation, and connection. Enjoy a welcome drink and canapés, chat with Hugh, have your books signed, and capture a photo together before sitting down to your meal.

Each dish follows our SLOW ethos, Seasonal, Local, Organic, and Wild, reflecting Hugh’s passion for thoughtful, sustainable food.

With only a handful of dates each year, this event is truly one-of-a-kind. Planning a gathering of 10 or more? Ask about our private dining packages for special occasions.

ARRIVE

You’ll be met at the top of the hill and begin your River Cottage experience with a 10-15 minute walk through the wonderful pathways down to the farm, so you can enjoy the stunning views of the valley. A Land Rover lift is available in poor weather and for those with mobility issues.

WELCOME

Head to the courtyard where you'll be greeted with a welcome cocktail, then have a wander around our kitchen garden and enjoy the first course, served as generous seasonal canapés, before taking your seats in our threshing barn for a 19:00 start. Our team will be serving further drinks from our bar from 18:30 onwards. Welcome drinks and canapés are served in our award winning cookery school if the weather is challenging.

CHEF'S INTRODUCTION

Settle into the cosy barn for an intimate evening with Hugh as he shares his passion for the season’s finest ingredients and the latest happenings from the world of River Cottage. You’ll have the chance to ask him your questions before our Head Chef introduces the menu and talks you through our philosophy, the provenance of the ingredients, and how each dish has been prepared.

MAIN EVENT

You’ll be treated to four courses celebrating the very best local and seasonal produce, much of it grown or raised on our own farm. The menu will be planned on the day to showcase the freshest ingredients, with dishes inspired by Hugh’s much-loved recipes.

TO FINISH

At the end of service feel free to take a stroll back up the hill to walk off the indulgent supper or if you prefer, we can happily give you a ride in one of our farm Land Rovers.

DRINKS

We source our drinks as carefully as our food. After enjoying a welcome drink on us, our extensive drinks list will be available for you with orders taken from the table throughout the evening. This includes our own River Cottage range of organic Ciders, Beers and Kombuchas, and a carefully curated wine list of mostly organic and biodynamic wines. There’s always a seasonal cocktail or two on offer as well. If you want some direction from our team, we can help you pair drinks perfectly with the days’ menu. Do ask them when they come around to take your drinks orders.

“I was treated to a Farm to Table Feast by my family as a birthday present. It was great from start to finish. Picked up from car park to ride down in Land Rover. Shown to table and sat alongside other special diet customers. Such a relief to be able to enjoy a meal without worry of eating things I shouldn’t. The menu contained some things that were new to me and were all enjoyed.”

Brilliant chef for the day, it was amazing thankyou, and really appreciate the hard work and effort that must go on behind the scenes everyday to organise all you do, as well as to do the day itself thankyou.

  3. Jeanette

Great food and all fresh and local, fabulous staff, we picked up plenty of tips

  4. Joanna

We all said how much we liked each course. It was a lot of food, but not too much. I liked the story that was woven from the local land, local suppliers and what was in season back to curation of menu.

  5. Charlie

Not a single, even minuscule, criticism. Was just perfect!
