Celebrate River Cottage's 20th Anniversary with George Egg's 'Set Menu' Comedy Show and Feast

Join us for George Egg’s Set Menu: An Evening of Food and Comedy with the ‘Snack Hacker’ at River Cottage. In this unique and entertaining live show, George combines inventive cooking, ingenious snack-hacking and stand-up comedy as he prepares a meal using an unlikely array of non-culinary appliances – from power tools to clothes irons.

The performance takes place in our stunning 18th-century Threshing Barn, where George will cook, share his wonderfully eccentric culinary tricks, and keep guests laughing along the way.

After the show, guests will have the chance to meet George for a book signing before returning to the barn to enjoy a spectacular sit-down seasonal feast inspired by the food created during the performance.

‘The inimitable George Egg is an Instagram and live comedy legend, and for some years now, he has also been a hugely valued friend, both of mine and of River Cottage. I love the way he mixes up surreal comedy with his amazing culinary insights and cheeky snack-hacking ways. We will be giving George the finest seasonal ingredients of the moment, and he will be bringing with him some of his left-field larder favourites to stamp his own unique vision on a menu I can safely say will be unlike any other we have served at River Cottage. It will come with lashings of laughs and a side-order of silliness, but it will still be downright delicious from first to last.’

Is this event suitable for me? We can accommodate some food intolerances and allergies at our dining events, providing that these are mentioned when you make your reservation. Dietary accommodations we can make include those for vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian diets, those who are pregnant, and those with dairy, gluten, nut or shellfish allergies (we recommend you bring your epi pen). However, we cannot cater to dislikes, or to any dietary restrictions that we feel may compromise our ethos or high standard of our menus. ARRIVE

You’ll be met at the top of the hill and begin your River Cottage experience with a 10-15 minute walk through the wonderful pathways down to the farm, so you can enjoy the stunning views of the valley. A Land Rover lift is available in poor weather and for those with mobility issues.

WELCOME

Head to the courtyard where you'll be greeted by our team, then have a wander around our kitchen garden before taking your seats in our threshing barn for the evening's entertainment.

THE SHOW

Settle into the Threshing Barn for George Egg’s brilliantly inventive live show, where he combines comedy and creative cooking, preparing food using an array of unlikely non-culinary appliances – from power tools to clothes irons.

MEET & GREET

After the performance, guests will have the chance to meet George for a relaxed meet and greet and book signing.

THE FEAST

You’ll be treated to three courses of fantastic local and seasonal produce, inspired by the food George cooked during the show.

TO FINISH

At the end of service feel free to take a stroll back up the hill to walk off the indulgent supper or if you prefer, we can happily give you a ride in one of our farm Land Rovers.

DRINKS

We source our drinks as carefully as our food. After enjoying a welcome drink on us, our extensive drinks list will be available for you with orders taken from the table throughout the evening. This includes our own River Cottage range of organic Ciders, Beers and Kombuchas, and a carefully curated wine list of mostly organic and biodynamic wines. There’s always a seasonal cocktail or two on offer as well. If you want some direction from our team, we can help you pair drinks perfectly with the days’ menu. Do ask them when they come around to take your drinks orders.
