Join us for a truly special evening as part of our River Cottage 20th Anniversary celebrations, in the company of River Cottage’s foraging experts. Mushroom maestro, and TV regular John Wright will be hosting this event alongside the talented Nick Phillips, local foraging specialist and now the lead guide for our fungi foraging courses.

Together, they will host an extraordinary foraged feast, celebrating the richness of the wild larder and the beauty of seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.

Set within our stunning 18th-century threshing barn, the evening begins with John and Nick introducing the menu, sharing their knowledge, stories, and deep connection to the landscape behind each dish. Expect a memorable dining experience shaped by the flavours of the hedgerow, woodland, and field.

For this very special evening, he will be joined by the brilliant mushroom maestro Nick Phillips, who now leads our mushroom foraging courses. Bring with you all your foraging questions, which John and Nick will answer with amazing erudition and wit, and be ready to explore the wild and wonderful ingredients of the season in this fabulous four-course, foraged feast.’

Is this event suitable for me? We can accommodate some food intolerances and allergies at our dining events, provided that these are mentioned when you make your reservation. Dietary accommodations we can make include those for vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian diets, those who are pregnant, and those with dairy, gluten, nut or shellfish allergies (we recommend you bring your epi pen). However, we cannot cater to dislikes or to any dietary restrictions that we feel may compromise our ethos or the high standard of our menus. ARRIVE

You’ll be met at the top of the hill and begin your River Cottage experience with a 10-15 minute walk through the wonderful pathways down to the farm, so you can enjoy the stunning views of the valley. A Land Rover lift is available in poor weather and for those with mobility issues.

WELCOME

Head to the courtyard where you'll be greeted by our team, then have a wander around our kitchen garden before taking your seats in our threshing barn.

HOST'S INTRODUCTION

John and Nick will introduce the menu and share more about the inspiration behind the feast, the wild ingredients they’ve foraged, and the stories behind the dishes.

MAIN EVENT

You’ll be treated to four courses of fantastic seasonal and foraged produce, much of it from our farm.

TO FINISH

At the end of service feel free to take a stroll back up the hill to walk off the indulgent supper or if you prefer, we can happily give you a ride in one of our farm Land Rovers.

DRINKS

We source our drinks as carefully as our food. After enjoying a welcome drink on us, our extensive drinks list will be available for you with orders taken from the table throughout the evening. This includes our own River Cottage range of organic Ciders, Beers and Kombuchas, and a carefully curated wine list of mostly organic and biodynamic wines. There’s always a seasonal cocktail or two on offer as well. If you want some direction from our team, we can help you pair drinks perfectly with the days’ menu. Do ask them when they come around to take your drinks orders.
