Celebrate River Cottage's 20th Anniversary with Rachel de Thample

Join us for an inspiring evening with River Cottage fermentation expert Rachel de Thample, as she presents a beautifully crafted five-course feast celebrating the transformative magic of seasonal ferments.

Drawing on produce from our gardens and the finest locally sourced fish and meat, each dish is thoughtfully designed to showcase depth of flavour, balance, and creativity – all rooted in our SLOW ethos: Seasonal, Local, Organic, and Wild.

Set within our stunning 18th-century threshing barn, Rachel will guide you through the menu, sharing the stories, techniques, and inspiration behind each course.

Rachel de Thample has been our fantastic fermentation guru at River Cottage for many years now, and is rightly regarded as a world authority on the subject, alongside such legends (and friends and mentors of Rachel) as Sandor Katz and Noma’s David Silber. Such is her reputation and the growing fascination with this immensely rewarding subject that Rachel now teaches more classes at River Cottage than any of our guest tutors. She is, of course, the author of the Award-winning River Cottage Fermentation Handbook. Rachel will deliver a feast full of classic and original seasonal ferments conjured from the garden and matched to complement the finest fish and meat too. This event coincides with the launch of her latest book ’The Fermentation Year’, and Rachel will be ready to answer all your questions on this endlessly intriguing topic.’
