A Feast From Land to Sea at River Cottage

Join local legend, celebrated chef, and award-winning food writer Mark Hix, as you indulge in a six-course feast at River Cottage. The menu for this unforgettable evening has been carefully crafted by Mark and our Head Chef Chiara Tomasoni, showcasing the freshest seasonal ingredients sourced from our local shores, our kitchen garden, and the land surrounding us.

Dine with fellow food enthusiasts in our stunning 18th-century threshing barn, where Mark will introduce each dish and share the story behind it. As always, the menu follows our SLOW ethos: Seasonal, Local, Organic and Wild, ensuring every bite bursts with flavour and honours the bounty of the land and sea.

Is this event suitable for me? We can accommodate some food intolerances and allergies at our dining events, providing that these are mentioned when you make your reservation. Dietary accommodations we can make include those for vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian diets, those who are pregnant, and those with dairy, gluten, nut or shellfish allergies (we recommend you bring your epi pen). However, we cannot cater to dislikes, or to any dietary restrictions that we feel may compromise our ethos or high standard of our menus. ARRIVE

You’ll be met at the top of the hill and begin your River Cottage experience with a 10-15 minute walk through the wonderful pathways down to the farm, enabling you to really soak up the views of the valley.

WELCOME

Head to the courtyard where you'll be greeted with a welcome drink, then have a wander around our kitchen garden before taking your seats in our threshing barn for an approximate 19:00 start. Our team will start serving drinks form 18:30 onwards.

CHEF'S INTRODUCTION

As you settle in, Mark will introduce the menu and tell you more about our philosophy, the food’s provenance and how the dishes have been prepared.

MAIN EVENT

You’ll be treated to six courses of fantastic local and seasonal produce, showcasing the freshest and the best.

TO FINISH

At the end of service feel free to take a stroll back up the hill to walk off the indulgent supper or for anyone who needs it, we can happily give you a ride in one of our farm Land Rovers.

DRINKS

We source our drinks as judiciously as our food. Our extensive drinks list will be available for you to try our own River Cottage range of organic Ciders, Beers and Kombuchas, and a carefully curated wine list of mostly organic and biodynamic wines. If you want some direction from our team, there's bound to be some suggested gems that pair perfectly with the days' menu and a seasonal cocktail or two, do ask them when they come around to take your drinks orders.
