Main Purpose and Scope

We are looking for a Front of House Team Member to join our team at River Cottage HQ. As a key member of our Front of House team, you will help deliver exceptional customer service in our beautiful, inspiring location. Whether you’re working in the River Cottage Kitchen & Store café, assisting with our cookery school, or supporting larger events like weddings and private parties, you will play a crucial role in creating memorable experiences for our guests. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for great service, food, and sustainability, and who is excited to contribute to the River Cottage ethos.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional customer service across the River Cottage Kitchen & Store café and during events, ensuring guests have a positive and memorable experience.

Support service at our cookery school and large celebrations, including weddings and private parties.

Assist with barista duties, cocktail making, and the serving of biodynamic/organic wines (ideally, if you have an interest or experience in these areas).

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and service, contributing to a welcoming environment.

Support and work collaboratively with the wider team, ensuring a smooth operation.

Be flexible and adaptable in response to seasonal demands, with the potential for additional hours during busy periods.

Help create a positive team culture by being friendly, approachable, and committed to excellence.

Ensure the health and safety standards are met during all shifts.

Experience Required

Previous experience in hospitality or customer service roles.

A passion for food and drink, with an interest in barista skills, biodynamic/organic wines, and cocktail making being highly desirable.

Ability to work effectively in a team and deliver high levels of customer service.

Flexibility to work daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, as needed.

Own transport is required due to the rural location between Axminster and Lyme Regis.

A driving license (age 25+) is preferred for driving company vehicles on the farm, although not essential.

Additional Beneficial Experience

Barista training or interest.

Knowledge of biodynamic/organic wines or cocktail making.

Experience in event service or managing larger group bookings.
