Payroll and HR Manager Job Vacancy

River Cottage is a multi-faceted business with a café, cookery school, accommodation and events space, hosting weddings, parties and corporate events. This role will be reporting to the Head of Finance and responsible for the co-ordination and processing of monthly Payroll and all aspects of HR Administration throughout the company. In addition it will support the Finance team with their tasks.

Reporting to – Head of Finance

Location – Remote/ River Cottage HQ

Job Type – Permanent, Part Time 15-24 hours per week across 4/5 mornings

Salary – £35,000 FTE (pro rata’d based on hours)

Job Overview

  • Maintain the payroll system and records by gathering, calculating, and inputting data. (QuickBooks & Square)
  • Analysis of weekly timesheet submissions to ensure accuracy
  • Production of monthly payroll, including calculating liabilities for payment to HMRC.
  • Calculate statutory leave payments such as SSP/SMP/SPP/SHPP
  • Calculate and administer pension contributions and deductions such as CSAs and DEOs
  • Co-ordinate the recruitment of new staff, assisting the recruiting manager to ensure brand alignment,
    and collating CV’s
  • Manage recruitment advertising
  • Ensuring that the on boarding process is complete for all new starters
  • Contract administration, including preparation of offer letters, contracts of employment and future
    changes to terms
  • Recording all Training and Health & Safety records, and logging all policy renewals
  • Supporting the Finance team

What we are looking for

  • Knowledge of current PAYE, NI tax calculations and payroll best practices.
  • Approachable and professional, as well as a calm head when fielding queries from employees who do
    not have the same understanding of PAYE and payroll deductions.
  • Have proven experience of working within a payroll department
  • Good Excel skills to manipulate and provide analysis of large data sets.
  • Flexibility to support workload and business requirements outside of standard working patterns when
    required
