River Cottage, founded by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, are looking to recruit a Wedding and Event Sales professional for a multi-award-winning venue in the countryside on the Dorset/Devon border.

You will be a proven sales professional who is able to tell a story to enable the guests to picture a perfect event/wedding within their mind’s eye. You will ideally come from a relevant background, be detail-oriented, and have a flair to provide memorable experiences.

 

Responsibilities

  • Convert sales enquiries and be proactive on new sales
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and corporate accounts to drive business growth
  • Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and trends in the hospitality industry
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create promotional materials and campaigns
  • Monitor competitor activities and adjust sales tactics accordingly
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure client satisfaction and loyalty
  • Manage wedding and corporate budgets typically ranging from £3k–£30k
  • Lead client tastings and guide couples through menu and event decisions

 

Experience

  • Background in catering, wedding venues, events or project management
  • Proven experience / track record in hotel sales and hospitality
  • Be very target driven
  • A genuine foodie with a passion for weddings and live events
  • Commercially aware and confident managing client budgets
  • Highly organised, detail-focused, and calm under pressure
  • Comfortable working evenings and peak-season weekends
  • Personable, hands-on, and proud to represent a creative brand
  • Knowledge of market trends and competitive landscape in the hospitality industry
  • Proficient in sales strategies and techniques
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities
  • Career-minded team player with a desire for a long-term position and be able to work independently and make your own decisions.

 

Work Schedule

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week), with occasional weekend cover. The position is hybrid, combining remote working with time on-site at River Cottage HQ.

£28,000-32,000 per annum plus commission, with potential earnings in excess of £50k.
